Morningside family photoshoot at Braid Hills with the Porteous Family
This year the Porteous family opted for a Morningside family photoshoot at Braid Hills so Mum and Dad could get involved. It was their third photoshoot with me but previously we had only photographed the boys.
This was the first time that Louise and Steve had chosen to be in the photos so capturing gorgeous family portraits was definitely top of the wish list. Braid Hills is somewhere the family enjoy spending time together regularly so it was the perfect choice of location and one they know well. We lucked out with a glorious sunny evening and took in the gorgeous views. Long grasses, hillocks and dandelion clocks were all used and explored by the boys. It was truly a perfect example of a relaxed family photoshoot!
If you are considering a family photoshoot I always recommend choosing a location that has meaning to you. Whether it’s somewhere you visit often or somewhere you keep for special occasions. As long as we can find a quiet corner we can create beautiful family photos you will love.
Braid Hill is a very popular spot with families and dog walkers but the space is so sprawling you can always find a quiet spot away from others. No need to worry about people staring while you get your photo taken!
You can see a few favourites from the session below, followed by Steve’s review of their family photoshoot experience!
Our Family Photography Experience – over to Steve to tell you how it was!
We have had two outdoor photo shoots with Rachael now, one mini shoot for the children and one family shoot taken just before schools returned in summer 2020. We wanted a lasting reminder of all the walks and fun we had during lockdown out on the hills! Rachael let us choose the location and didn’t grumble when we made her climb up the hills. She made sure the conditions and lighting were perfect and gave us tips on what best to wear on the day. Rachael creates such a relaxed atmosphere and makes the children giggle with her silliness (and secret sweeties). Our youngest was reluctant at the start but soon relaxed and was posing like a pro. The resulting pictures are absolutely stunning and we couldn’t be happier with them. We never seem to get pictures of the whole family together so this was perfect. If you are thinking of getting family pictures or even some of children out in nature then Rachael is the photographer for you!
If you are interested in an outdoor family photoshoot you can find out more on the Family page here. From 2022 I will be moving to bi-annual family sessions so make sure to keep an eye out when our dates are released for the year!
