How exciting, your little one is almost here! Whether it’s your first or your fourth, it’s so important to freeze this moment in time. The days are long but the years are short and they truly do fly by. Your little one is going to be walking and talking before you know it!

As an Edinburgh newborn photographer, I’m here to give you a joyful and stress-free newborn experience that focuses on the delicate details of your new baby.

Your Newborn Photographer Edinburgh

You want the best for your baby and when it comes to newborn photography safety is key. Choosing someone with experience will be important to you so you can relax knowing I have over 15 years experience as a newborn photographer. I have undertaken expert training in the safe posing and handling of babies as well as being a Mummy myself to two beautiful boys. By choosing me as your newborn photographer you are putting your brand new baby in the hands of a professional. All sessions are baby led, putting the comfort and safety of your baby first at all times.

Newborn Photography Studio Edinburgh

The Beautiful Bairns studio has free on site parking, a big comfy sofa and all home comforts for you to enjoy! Log in to the wifi, enjoy a cup of tea (while its still hot!) and relax. You can sit back while I soothe your baby into beautiful poses for gorgeous images you will love forever.

Conveniently located in Chesser, the studio is easily accessible for families across Edinburgh — whether you’re coming from Morningside, Corstorphine, Craiglockhart, Currie, Balerno, Livingston or further afield.

Before your newborn photoshoot

Babies are unpredictable! So I want to make things as easy as possible for you.

I only book a limited number of newborn due dates each month. This means no matter if baby arrives early or late you will have multiple dates to choose from for your photoshoot.

All we need is your due date and your £75 session fee to get you booked into the studio diary.

Once baby arrives you access our calendar and choose the date for your session to take place. Easy!

Many new parents worry about their newborn not sleeping. I don’t want you to worry about this so have written a blog post all about newborn sleep and my approach to soothing babies. I hope it helps to know that it is perfectly okay for baby to arrive awake and alert!

During your newborn photoshoot

Baby is Boss in the Beautiful Bairns studio!
As an experienced newborn photographer I understand that babies are unpredictable. Sessions are entirely baby led with plenty of time for feeds, cuddles and clean ups. I only schedule one newborn photoshoot a day so you and baby won’t be rushed.

We will chat over a cuppa and choose the perfect colour palette for your images so they look beautiful when displayed in your home.

Then you can sit back, relax and watch as I get baby relaxed into a deep sleep and perfectly posed.

If you would like to have family photos taken during your newborn photoshoot I have a handy guide with ideas for what to wear.

After your newborn photoshoot

We will schedule your viewing & ordering appointment to take place around a week after your newborn photoshoot.

All of your images will be expertly retouched for viewing and displayed in a slideshow.

You can choose from the 3 newborn collections with the option to add on additional wall art if you wish. No hard sell, I promise!

Your digital images will be ready to take home on the day.

Printed products will be shipped directly to your home or if you prefer we can have them delivered to the studio for you to collect at your convenience.

Do we need to have family photos taken?

You are under no obligation to have family or sibling photos taken at your newborn photoshoot. But most families who opt not to end up regretting it! Even if you never share the photos with anyone, imagine how special it will be for your baby to see how tiny they were in your arms. And how in love with them you looked!

What should baby wear for your newborn photoshoot

At the studio I have a huge selection of beautiful fabrics, hats, headbands, wraps and props.

For most images baby will be naked so there is no need to bring any clothing. If you prefer for baby to be covered we can do so using beautiful fabrics. I also have a small selection of newborn outfits you are welcome to use for your newborn photoshoot if you would prefer baby to keep nappy on throughout.

This way you can still see how small and delicate baby is without being swamped by baggy clothing.

Newborn Photography Pricing

Booking your Edinburgh newborn photography session couldn’t be simpler. A booking fee of £50 is payable at the time of booking to reserve your due date — and this is deducted from your chosen collection price when you return to view your images.

Once you’re booked in, you’ll receive a personalised session guide to help you feel prepared and confident ahead of your newborn photoshoot. You’ll also have optional access to my client wardrobe and personalised styling advice via phone or Zoom — so you arrive feeling relaxed, radiant and ready to enjoy every moment.

There’s absolutely no pressure to choose your collection on the day. Instead, around a week after your newborn session, we’ll schedule a calm and relaxed viewing appointment at the Beautiful Bairns studio in Chesser, Edinburgh — a truly special moment to see your baby’s portraits for the very first time.

All of your images will be lovingly retouched and presented in a beautiful slideshow, and together we’ll create the perfect collection to suit your home and your budget. From stunning wall art to cherished keepsakes, I’ll help you find the pieces that will bring your baby’s story to life in your home every single day.

Your digital images will be ready to take home on the day, with any printed products shipped directly to your door — or collected from the studio at a time that suits you.
